Man looted of ornaments

SURAT, Feb 9: Three unidentified people barged into a shop located at Textile Market area of the city, on Tuesday afternoon, and after throwing chilli powder into the eyes of the owner, looted him of gold ornaments worth Rs 15,000, the police said. One of the assailants also fired a round from his country revolver, injuring the owner in the process, the police added.

The incident took place at about 1.45 on Tuesday afternoon, when three youths stormed into shop no 20/1207 located on the first floor at Abhishek Market off Ring Road in the Textile Market area. According to the statement by Narendra Champaklal Lakdawala, a resident of Ami Society in Tadwadi area of Rander Road, one of the accused -- all aged between 25 and 30 -- threw chilli powder into his eyes while the others snatched two gold chains worth Rs 15,000 from his neck.
