Two arrested with forged passports

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, February 9: Immigration officials at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport arrested two travellers on charges of cheating and forgery over the last couple of days. Both passengers were travelling on forged passports.

Murti Prakash Singh, an Australian national, was arrested last night and charged with cheating. Singh was on his way to Bangkok. Four sheets of the passport he was carrying had been changed.

Singh's arrest shattered Kiranjeet Kaur's dreams of going abroad. A distant relative, she was accompanying Singh to Bangkok. The final destination on her travel itinerary was Canada. Kaur had paid Singh Rs 5 lakh for a ticket to Canada and following his arrest, she has been stranded in the city.

A resident of Amritsar, Kaur's passport had been issued from Guwahati. Singh told her he would take her to Bangkok from where he promised her a visa for the US or Canada. Singh's forged passport had been issued in Singapore.
