MUMBAI, FEB 9: Cartoon Network became the latest to join the cricketing hoopla prevalent in the country by launching Toon Cricket at the Cricket Club of India here this evening.Toon Cricket comprises a two-day extravaganza featuring world famous cartoon stars, professional cricketers and kids, informed Michael Richter, vice-president, marketing for TNT & Cartoon Network (Asia Pacific) while addressing newspersons today. The two-day event presented by Coca-Cola will be held at the Andheri Sports Complex on March 20-21 and at Harbaksh Stadium in New Delhi on March 27 & 28.
Two popular Cartoon Network characters -- Scooby-Doo and boy genius Dexter -- will lead the teams which will also include other `toon' stars Tom & Jerry, Fred & Wilma Flintstone, Dino and Yogi Bear. Each team will comprise of eight players and will have gimmicks, interactive challenges and routines choreographed into the game. An added attraction is a Toon Cricket Clinic on day one of the events in both cities.
Kids will have to choosethe `toon star' they think would make the best cricketer and write to Cartoon Network. Further details of the contest will appear on Cartoon Network from February 15.
