Official sources told PTI that the eight-year old daughter of one Naresh Prasad was run over and killed by a police jeep led by officer in-charge of the Sohasarai police station, Uday Shanker Pandey.

Angry villagers later attacked the police station and torched four motor bikes and a car.

A portion of the police station was also set ablaze, the sources said adding town DSP Arshad Jamal and Pandey were also injured in the attack.

Police patrolling was intensified to bring the situation under control.
