PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Dhaka, FEB 10: A pro-government student leader was shot dead and over 100 injured as fresh sporadic clashes marked the second day of the 60-hour opposition-sponsored general strike in Bangladesh today.

Reports said that Ilias Hossain Alin (22), town unit vice-president of Chhatra League, a ruling Awami League's student wing in the south-eastern border district town of Feni was shot dead at trunk road by political opponents while returning home after attending a party meeting.

Witnesses said along with the Alin a garment worker too received gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital following clashes with the main opposition BNP activists in Old Dhaka. The rival activists fought with guns during the clashes hurling several home-made bombs.
