Bihar kids rescued in Karnataka
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BANGALORE, February 10: A group of nine children from Bihar, who were being taken by some Tibetans to be engaged as bonded labourers in Kollegal, have been rescued. A social worker, who spotted the children at the Bangalore railway station, took police help to rescue the children. It has been found that the children, hailing from poor families, were lured by the promise of education and employment. The Tibetans paid sums of Rs 1,000-Rs 1,500 per child to the families. The children, in the age group of 10-14, said they had never been to school, and seemed unaware of the fate the Tibetans had in store for them.Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
