Chess tourney

An International Rating Chess Tournament with three International Masters will begin from tomorrow at the Town hall, Court Naka, Thane (W). The Tanvi Satva All-India Open Rating Chess tournament will have IMs Sharad Tilak (Elo rating 2325) and Arun Vaidya (2310) along with other players like Prasad Deshmukh participating in the tournament which will be played over 11 rounds on the Swiss League format. The winner stands to earns Rs 10,000. The top 15 players will be winning cash prizes.

Entries will be entertained till the start of the tournament and registration can be done at the venue. The entry fee is Rs 500 for unrated player, Rs 400 for players with the rating from 2000 to 2150; Rs 300 for players with rating from 2150 to 2250 and Rs 300 for players having rating from 2250 to 2400. Entry will be free for IMs, IWMs and players with rating above 2400.

Veterans TT

Jan Seva Mandal will be conducting the veterans (40 years and above) Inter-Club Tennis Team Championships onFeb 20, 21 and on 27, 28. Entries close on Feb 14. The forms are accepted by phone (6713193/6130281) or at Mhatre Sports Academy, Mora Village Road, Juhu North, Near Chandan Cinema, Mumbai 49.
