Gopi, Aparna win titles
Pullela Gopi Chand gave a glimpse of the champion stuff that he is as he wore down Srikant Bakshi 15-3, 15-3 in the final of the Indian Oil Servo National Badminton's open events on way to achieving a three-in-a row feat while Aparna Popat quelled whatever little challenge that PVV Lakshmi might have thought of putting up to win her second straight crown. Australia, superbly commanded by Shane Warne kept their head, whilst England panicked and lost 6/24 to toss away the first final. This was a classic case of one team knowing how to win and the other not being sure of themselves and eventually the pressure Australia applied saw England wilt.
India beat Pakistan
The wheels of fortune turned around. A brave Indian team made it happen with a stunning performance as they handed out a 3-0 drubbing to Pakistan for a face-saving victory in the fourth and final Test of the home leg of the Pepsi hockey series on Wednesday.
India suffer
An India-Pakistan Test series was always going to be tense and exciting but this one moved into the realms of the incredible. If Chennai was a cracker, Delhi will remain etched in the cricket annals forever. However, it was India's inability to seize the initiative at crucial junctures which induced all the excitement in the series.
