Aizawl SDPO P B Dawnga today said that while two were held from Karimganj and Patharkandi in Assam, the rest from Aizawl yesterday. Some electronic gadgets, bank passbooks and Rs 16,000 were recovered from them.

Detailing the fraud, he said, about 164 bank drafts were found missing from different branches of the State Bank of India and Agricultural Development Bank in and around Delhi and Panipat some months ago.

Some of those missing drafts were encashed through the accounts of four tribals, he said. A sum of Rs 72,66,442 had already been encashed in Aizawl.
