Two shootouts: One killed, another hurt

NEW DELHI, February 11: One person was killed while another sustained serious injuries in two separate shootouts in north-west Delhi today.

A 25-year-old man was shot dead in Sarawati Vihar this morning. The victim, Jaiveer, died in hospital. The assailant, Jaiprakash, is absconding. The police is interrogating his family to ascertain his whereabouts.

The incident took place at about 10:30 a.m. when Jaiveer was shot by Jaiprakash outside the latter's house. The victim had gone to visit the assailant at his house in Rajdhani Enclave in Saraswati Vihar. Jaiveer, a resident of Sonepat, was staying in Mongolpur village.

In another incident, an unidentified assailant shot at a businessman in front of Satyawati college around 6.10 p.m. in the Ashok Vihar police station area in north-west Delhi. The police have not been able to trace the assailant as yet. Harish Nagpal, 35, has been rushed to Sunderlal Jain hospital. He is reportedly in a critical condition.
