ONGC in BDM final

NEW DELHI, February 11: Deepak Sharma powered ONGC to a facile eight-run victory over Sahara Airlines to enter the final of the BDM Cup tournament.

The former Haryana opening batsman and off-spin bowler turned in an all-round performance to guide the team to victory and was declared the man of the match (24 and 4 for 22). ONGC made 189 for eight in 45 overs. Rizwan Shamshad (65) and Gautam Vadhera (36) were the main scorers.

The two put on 100 runs for the third wicket after ONGC had lost two early wickets for just five runs. For Sahara Airlines, Mahender Pal and Jaspal claimed two wickets each. Despite three useful knocks from Vikas Chandan (38 not out), Sunil Sharma (37) and Amar Singh (29), Sahara Airlines were dismissed for 182 in 40.1 overs.

Brief Scores: ONGC: 189 for 8 in 45 overs (Rizwan Shamshad 65, Gautam Vadhera 36, Deepak Sharma 24, Mahender Pal 2 for 33, Jaspal 2 for 41). Sahara Airlines: 182 all out in 40.1 overs (Sunil Sharma 37, Amar Singh 29, Vikas Chandan 38 not out, Deepak Sharma 4 for 22, Punit Dayal 2 for 32).
