CHANDIGARH, Feb 12: A total of 26 murder cases were solved by the Ambala Police out of the total of 29 such cases registered in police station in Ambala district during 1998-99.A statement issued here said that all the accused in these cases have been arrested and the challans have been presented in the courts.
The police also succeeded in recovering property worth about Rs.55 lakhs, stolen in 169 theft cases and arrested 309 persons in this regard. Property recovered includes nine cars, three trucks, two tractors, 11 motor-cycles and 14 scooters.
As many as 16 criminal gangs were also busted and property worth Rs.17 lakhs was recovered. 33 persons were arrested in this regard.
Further, three out of the four robbery cases registered in the district were solved, two pistols and five live cartridges were recovered.
As far as kidnapping and abduction is concerned, 13 out of the 16 registered cases have been solved. A total of 41 cases under the Arms Act were registered, under which 40 persons were arrested and three pistols, two guns, 25 cartridges, 26 knives and three khukris were recovered.
