CALCUTTA, FEB 12: The State Shiv Sena today protested against ``attempts at maligning its image in West Bengal''. The party's state secretary Ardhendu Sen, in a memorandum submitted to the office of the minister for home (police) Buddhadev Bhattacharya, said, ``We want the police and intelligence to investigate into the recent threats to disrupt the India-Pakistan Test beginning here from 16th of this month.''
Dissociating with the threat issued recently to the Cricket Association of Bengal by the ``so-called Shiv Sainiks'', Sen told the minister, ``When our top leadership decided not to oppose the Test series, no state units of our organisation would create any problem for the Test matches.''
``And the state government should investigate and identity the people who are involved with the mischief-making,'' he said. The state Shiv Sena blamed the administration for not trying to ``identify the people who played the mischief impersonating as Shiv Sainiks.''
