Bhutto alleges Govt attempt to kill her
Agencies
KARACHI, FEB 14: The ongoing tussle between the Nawaz Sharif government and the press took a new turn on Saturday with opposition leader Benazir Bhutto alleging that the government had made an attempt on life because she took out a rally in support of freedom of press. An almost hysterical Benazir showed newsmen blood markson her dress during a hurriedly called press conference last evening claiming that she and other opposition leaders had narrowly escaped an attempt on their lives by law enforcing agencies. She said the blood was that of a party worker who shielded her from brickbatting by policemen trying to disrupt a peaceful rally by the united opposition alliance led by her Pakistan People's Party.``It was a premeditated conspiracy by law enforcing agencies who broke the law in an attempt to physically assault and murder opposition politicians,'' the former premier, who is battling a host of corruption charges, alleged.
