Father beats son to death
Vadodara: A young tribal was beaten to death by his father in the remote Khodvania village in Chhotaudepur taluka in the wee hours of Sunday, the police said. The rural police said that according to wife of the deceased, Andrabhai Rathwa was beaten to death by his father Kaglabhai over a trivial issue. A case has been registered by the police, who are on a look out for the accused.

Burglaries
Two cases of burglary were reported from different parts of the city on Sunday. According to the Panigate police, miscreants broke into the house of one Sonalben Patel, a resident of Vaghodia road, and decamped with valuables worth Rs 8,000. According to the Gorwa police, miscreants stole valuables worth about Rs 3,500 from the house of one V Pande, a resident of Laxmipura Road. The police was investigating.

Vehicles lifted
Two scooters (GJ-6-LL-7817 and GJ-17-6152) and a Sunny moped (GJ-6-6625) were stolen from M S University, Karelibaug and Navapura area, respectively, the police said on Sunday.

Two dead
Two people died in separate cases of road accidents that occurred in the city on Sunday. THe SSG Hospital police said that a cyclist, identified as Bikhabhai Rathwa, was crushed to death by an unidentified vehicle in Makarpura area in the wee hours of Sunday, while an unidentified middle-aged man was run over in Chhani area.

Murder probe
Surat: The Umra police are probing into the murder of an unidentified man, whose body was found on Saturday evening from a canal off Bharthana village on the outskirts of the city. Medical reports of the New Civil hospital, where the body was sent for autopsy, said the person had been murdered and thrown into the canal to destroy evidence. The victim's throat was slashed with a sharp object, the police said, adding, the absence of any signs on the spot indicated that the person might have been murdered elsewhere. A case under section 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
