Probe into murder
The Umra police are probing into the murder of an unidentified man, whose body was found on Saturday evening from a canal off Bharthana village on the outskirts of the city. Medical reports of the New Civil hospital, where the body was sent for autopsy, said the person had been murdered and thrown into the canal to destroy evidence. The victim's throat was slashed with a sharp object, the police said, adding, the absence of any signs on the spot indicated that the person might have been murdered elsewhere. A case under section 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the police station and investigations are on.

Kidnapped
Two textile traders of the city lodged a complaint in the Salabatpura police station stating that they were kidnapped by four people, illegally locked up for four days at a flat in Kailashnagar and threatened with dire consequences. Rameshchandra Shah and Parasmal Jain, both textile traders, said Mahendra and Nilesh of Nilesh Textiles in Mahavir market along with Hitesh and Sudhir of Kiran Textiles at Goodluck Market kidnapped them because they asked for Rs 1.10 lakh which the four owed. The police have registered a case under sections 365, 343 and 114 of the IPC and are investigating.

Body recovered
The Katargam police recovered the dead body of an unidentified 55-year old man from the Tapi river near Sarthana Water Works. The person has been wearing a white shirt and green trousers, the police said, adding that whomsoever has any information on the identity of the person may contact the police. The police suspect that the person may have died of drowning and a case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the police station.
