NEW DELHI, February 14: People from all walks of life holding banners, posters and placards took part in the `Save the Tiger Walk' from the zoological park here to the Bikaner House, the head office of Project Tiger said.The tiger walk organised by the non-government organisation Tiger Trust, aims at involving the public in creating an awareness about the conservation of the big cats, chairman of Tiger Trust Pradeep Sankhala said.
A video show inside an inflatable tiger and presentations by eminent conservationists were organised as part of the tiger walk. The first 25 participants to complete the walk were given prizes.
The tiger walk was also supported by the Project Tiger and Western Canada Wilderness Committee, Vancouver.
According to reports, by 2010 the tiger population will be wiped out from the wild. India at present has only about 3000 striped felines in the jungle.
