DD programme executive held

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, FEB 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a programme executive of Ahmedabad Doordarshan kendra and a woman artiste on the charge of taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a television serial producer.

A CBI release said here today that the programme executive, Dilip Wagheshwari, has been remanded to police custody for two days and the artiste, Sheetal Trivedi, released on bail.

The producer had complained that his serial, Jadu Nakhel in Gujarati, was taken off the air after four episodes and the executive demanded Rs 20,000 for resuming telecast.

Trivedi, an amateur artiste, had allegedly accepted the first instalment of Rs 10,000 on behalf of the executive, and on his directions.
