Interim bail for 4 "dismissed" ATCs

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
MUMBAI, FEB 19: The four officials, P N Bahuguna, regional secretary of Air Traffic Controllers' Guild, M K Sinha, P Srinivas and Sudhanshu Gupta, who were ``not traceable'' till a while ago, moved an anticipatory bail application and appeared before principal judge of Sessions Court A S Aguiar this evening.

The four had been ``summarily'' dismissed by the government yesterday and warrants issued against them by airport police under various sections of Indian Penal Code.

Reacting to the arrest warrant, Bahuguna said a whip had been issued against the ``peaceful ATCs whose safety standards were on par with the rest of the world.''

``We have decided to fight the decision tooth and nail,'' he said. People should realise it was not ATCs who were responsible for the industrial unrest but mandarins of airport authorities and policy-makers who had chosen to dismiss ``honest'' officers, Bahuguna added.
