MUMBAI, FEB 19: Joint Commissioner of Police (Administration) T K Choudhury today withdrew his public interest petition filed in the Bombay High Court against Director-General of Police (DGP) Arvind Inamdar accusing him of being vindictive in his actions. When the matter came up for hearing before the division bench of Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice Ajit Shah, Choudhury said that in the list of police announced on Thursday, five officers of the Indian Penal Service who were junior to him superseded him and were promoted to the rank of Additional Director-General of Police, while his name was missing from the list. The court then told him he had the liberty to approach the appropriate authority. Choudhury then said he would move the Central Administrative Tribunal.
In his petition, Choudhury had accused Inamdar of a personal bias against him since 1995, when he refused to abide by an illegal order of Inamdar who was then Additional Director-General of Police. Choudhury said he had alreadycompleted his term as Joint Commissioner of Police and was still to receive a promotion.
