Narmada dam work begins
Baroda: Construction work on the Sardar Sarovar dam across Narmada river at Kevadia began today following the Supreme Court order yesterday permitting the Gujarat Government to raise the height of the dam from 80.3 metres to 85 metres.

After the `bhoomi pujan' , Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel reiterated his government's resolve to comply with the resettlement and rehabilitation terms of the Narmada water dispute tribunal award.

HC seeks early end to ATC stir
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court today took serious note of the `go slow' agitation by the air traffic controllers' (ATC) guild and asked it and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to take a conciliatory approach to normalise air services in the country.

Ayodhya cases
Lucknow:

A special CBI court, hearing Ayodhya cases, will decide on March 12 on framing of charges against all the 49 accused including Union Home Minister L K Advani and Uttar Pradesh Chief MinisterKalyan Singh. Special Judge Jagdish Prasad Srivastava today adjourned the case till March 12.

AIR strike off
New Delhi: All India Radio (AIR) announcers, who were agitating for pay upgradation for the past two weeks, resumed work today after `temporarily' calling off their strike. The decision to call off the strike was taken last night in view of Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan's stand not to talk to anyone on the strike.

Jaya cases
Chennai: A special judge today directed former chief minister Jayalalitha, her close friend Sasikala Natarajan and some others to present themselves in court on February 25 when charges would be framed against them in the `TANSI land deal' case.

Judges shifted
New Delhi: Six judges from various high courts including Justice AA Desai of the Bombay High Court have been transferred with effect from March eight.
