Another feather in Puneet Juneja's cap

CHANDIGARH, Feb 19: Puneet Juneja, who won a silver medal in the recent Panjab University Inter-College yoga championships, has been selected to represent the university side in the Inter-Varsity competitions.

The 19 year-old Puneet, a student of PU's Chemical Engineering Department, had earlier shot into fame when he won a silver medal in the seventh World Yoga Cup at Argentina last year. Besides, he has also won a gold medal in the State championship. An eight-member Indian team had finished runners-up while hosts Argentina were the champions.

Incidentally, Puneet won his first medal at the age of 10, when he won a silver medal in the All India Open Yoga championship at Chandigarh in '88.

Trekking expedition
The 12-member team of Geography Society of Government College, Sector 11, left today for 3-day trekking expedition for Churdhar peak in Himachal Pradesh. Team comprises of Kulwinder Virk, Avnash Prasad, Sanjay Singh, Neelabh, Deepak, Amit Luthra, Kamaljeet, Gaurav Sood, Yashwant, Anil, Chander and professor KPS Shante.

Meanwhile, the GC-11 team won the first position in the Inter-College geography quiz contest held at GC-11 premises yesterday. Punjab University and GCG-11 were second and third respectively.

Kabaddi trials
Trials to select Indian men's team for the Third Prime Minister of Pakistan International circle kabaddi tournament to be held at Islamabad (Pakistan) from March 19 to 23, will held on February 22 at DAV Senior Secondary School-8, at 1.30 p.m.

According to JP Sharma, secretary, Amateur Circle Kabaddi Federation of India, the selected players would also undergo a coaching camp.
