NEW DELHI, Feb 22: The Delhi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) today directed Nina Pillai to cooperate with the investigating officer (IO) probing into the July 1995 custodial death of her husband biscuit tycoon Rajan Pillai.CMM R K Gauba issued the direction after the IO inspectors S Rathi, who submitted the progress report of the case, informed him that Nina Pillai was not cooperating with him in probing the case.
"On perusal and hearing I find that complainant (Nina) is not responding to the request of the IO for recording of her statement till date. She may cooperate with IO in the investigation," the CMM said in his order.
He also directed Rathi to file further progress report of the case on March 26. On January 18, the CMM had ordered the Crime Branch of Delhi Police to probe into the wider conspiracy behind the custodial death of Rajan Pillai as alleged by his widow.
Crime Branch has already registered a case against controversial godman Chandraswami, industrialist Nusli Wadia, Bangkok-basedNRI Rakesh Saxena and Singapore businessman Frederick Ross Johnson for their alleged involvement in Pillai's death.
