Parwanoo: Chemiplast Industries, Parwanoo, has been awarded the ISO-9002:94 certification for manufacture and supply of HDPE pipes by the Underwriters Laboratories Inc., an international certification authority based in USA. Chemiplast is the largest plastics processing unit in India manufacturing HDPE pipes for domestic and export markets. It is the first HDPE pipe manufacturing company in India to receive the coveted ISO-9002 approved certification for total quality system from Underwriters Laboratories.
Demand
Patiala: The Patiala Municipal Corporation Sweepers' Union has demanded that the posts of sanitary supervisors be filled keeping in view the seniority of sweepers and female employees be accorded preference in the matter of recruitment. A resolution to this effect was passed at a meeting of the union today. Another demand raised was that sweepers working against the posts of drivers be adjusted against the posts of drivers.
Project
Kharar: A Rs 1.65-lakh vocational computer training project, sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Parkersburg (USA) and Kharar and the Rotary Foundation, was inaugurated by the past District Governor of Rotary Club, R.S. Parmar, at the Arya Kanya Vidyalaya, here, on Sunday. The Rotary Club of Parkersburg and the Rotary Foundation will pay half the cost of the project and the rest will be borne by the Kharar Rotary Club and the Kharar Arya Parbandhak Samiti.
Bar room
Kharar: Roopnagar MP Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal has announced a grant of Rs 1 lakh from her discretionary fund for setting up of a Bar room and a library at the judicial courts complex here. The newly-elected president of the Kharar Bar Association, Avtar Singh Sidhu, presented a charter of demands to Dhaliwal, who addressed the members of the Bar.
Strike
Kharar: On a call given by the Punjab Photographers' Association to protest against the imposition of sales tax, all photo studios remained closed in Kharar and sorrounding areas today. While demanding the withdrawal of the sales tax, a spokesperson of the Kharar Photographers' Association said the strike will continue on Tuesday.
Plea
Parwanoo: Industrial workers of this industrial town have urged Transport Minister Krishan Kapoor to start local buses from Pinjore and Kalka to enable them to reach in time for their shifts in the factories here. One of the senior leaders of the Industrial Workers Union here said most workers, who have come to work from far flung areas of Himachal Pradesh, are forced to pay very high rents for rooms in Kalka or Pinjore.
