CHANDIGARH, Feb 22: A city resident, Bhag Singh was today convicted under Section 323 IPC (causing simple hurt) by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge G.S. Sandhu. The convict was sentenced to four-month rigorous imprisonment and was further directed to pay Rs 500 as fine. In case of default of payment of fine, the convict was directed to undergo further RI for a period of one month.In a complaint lodged against the accused, Jeewan Kumar had alleged that on September 7, 1994 when he was returning from his fields on a cycle, the accused hit him with his jeep despite the fact that he had cleared the way for him.
The complainant added that following the collision, he fell from his cycle and sustained simple hurts. The accused was earlier booked under Section 308 IPC.
