Earlier through its order, the High Court had modified the order of the UT District and Sessions Judge, granting Rs 25,000 to the husband of Rupan Deol Bajaj and did not allow the same. It may be recalled that Gill had paid Rs 50,000 (Rs 25,000 to Rupan Deol Bajaj's husband and another Rs 25,000 as cost of proceedings), on the order of District and Sessions Judge, of which, the amount to be given to Bajaj's husband was later ordered to be refunded.
