Job-oriented courses for schools planned

S.A.S. Nagar, Feb 22: Annual function of the Gian Jyoti Public School, Phase II, S.A.S. Nagar was held today in the school premises. Besides a colourful cultural programme science models and craft items were on display in the Science and Craft Exhibition.

School Principal J.S. Bedi read out the annual report. Punjab Minister for Technical Education and Industrial Training, Upinderjit Kaur, who was chief guest on the occasion said, "Punjab government is working out the modalities for the introduction of job-oriented courses in the school." She said that a high-powered committee, constituted earlier, had submitted its report to the government. "We are shaping the contents of the report and it will be introduced shortly," she said.

She also announced a grant of Rs 50,000 for the school, of which 25,000 will be distributed among students excelling in academics, sports, arts and cultural activities.
