HC directs maintenance of status quo

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Feb 22: Issuing notice of motion for March 30, a division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed the maintenance of status-quo in a writ petition for restraining the State of Haryana, besides other respondents, from demolishing the construction on the allotted plots.

The orders were pronounced by Justice V.K. Jhanji and Justice Amar Dutt on a petition filed by Shiv Dutt and five others.

In their petition, they had sought directions for declaring Section 5, 6, 11 and 12 of the Punjab New Capital (Periphery) Control Act, 1952 as ultra vires of the Constitution.
