Senior French tennis players in City

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
CHANDIGARH, Feb 22: A 13-member senior players (35-50 years) team from France arrived here today to play friendly matches against selected Chandigarh players of their level and age group at the Tennis Stadium in Sector 10 here tomorrow at 11 a.m.

The French players, representing International Lawn Tennis Club de France, have in their heydays represented France in Davis Cup or international tournaments. The team is led by Thierry Pham, former Davis Cupper and is an administrative executive of the French Federation of Tennis at Roland Garros, according to CLTA chairman Rajan Kashyap.

The other members of the team are: Danielle Bouteleux, Isabelle Bouteleux, Marie-Jeanne Gallard, Christopher Bernelle and Jean-Michel Hardouin. Accompanying the team are 12 businessmen and executives.

The matches will be played from at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2.30 to 4 p.m.

The Chandigarh team will be led by CLTA chairman Rajan Kashyap. The other members of the team are: Ram Shekher, SM Sharma, Dr Jasjit Singh, K Suresh, Jai Singh Gill, N M Janmeja, Dr AS Ahluwalia, Tarun Ghei, Mrs Banta Singh, Mayank Kapoor, Vineet Peshawari, Nitin Peshawari, Anurag Kashyap, Sukhwant Basra, Saurav Sharma, Sunil Kumar and Robin Dhingra.

Athletic meet
Government College for Girls, Sector 42 will organise its annual athletic meet tomorrow at 3.30 pm. The events will be held in college premisses.

Kabaddi trials
More than thirty players reported for the kabaddi trials (circle) held today at DAV School-8, to select the team for international meet to be held in Pakistan JP Sharma, secretary, Amateur Circle Kabaddi Federation of India, however, did not announce the list of the selected probables for the camp.
