AMRITSAR, Feb 22: American College of Madurai suffered another defeat (1-3) at the hands of the formidable Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior on the fourth day of seventh Nehru-SAIL Champion colleges hockey tournament being played at the Guru Nanak Dev University here today.In another match, NAS College, Meerut beat PC College, Chennai 2-1.
Madurai took the lead through J.Raghu in the 18th minute but this lead was shortlived when in the very next minute Gwalior's Kamlesh Soni sounded the board. The half-ttime score was 1-1.
After the lemon break, the Gwalior lads were on the attack and Sanjiv Kumar scored two field goals in the 68th and 69th minutes.
HP hockey
Bilaspur: The Himachal Pradesh Senior State hockey championship will be played here from February 25 to 28. The state team for participation in the National hockey championship (Hyderabad in March) will be selected after the state meet.
The state junior meet will be played in Nahan in May.
