Silver crashes
MUMBAI: Silver pricessuffered a sharp setback while gold remained steady at the local bullion market Tuesday. Silver .999 and raw varieties prices crashed steeply by Rs 120 each to Rs 8230 and Rs 8090 per kg respectively due to sustained heavy selling pressure by local stock-holders induced by weak global and upcountry advices.

However, gold standard mint and 22 carat prices, after fluctuating in a narrow range, remained unchanged at Rs 4350 and Rs 4025 nominal per ten gm respectively due to lack of fresh buying interest from local buyers. But gold biscuit price came down sharply by Rs 200 to Rs 50,900 per ten tola due to lack of fresh demand mainly from jewellery units.
