New Delhi: The striking doctors of AIIMS today said they would not succumb to pressure tactics from authorities even as the Govt told the HC that it might take action against the medicos. But the court has given the strikers a day's time to make their stand clear on ending the stalemate.
Quake in Valley
Srinagar: An earthquake of moderate intensity hit Srinagar and adjoining areas today damaging some houses. There were no reports of any deaths, police said. The quake measuring 5.2 Richter Scale occurred at 1227 pm swaying buildings and rattling doors.
Death for rapists
New Delhi: Governmentproposes to enact a legislation to provide for death penalty to rapists, Home Minister L K Advani told the Lok Sabha today. He said though registration, detection and prevention of crimes is primarily the responsibility of the state Govts, the Centre has been writing to states and union territories regularly, on the need to take preventive and punitive measures in connection with crimes against women.
