Prisoners flee from jail, commit dacoity

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB 23: Kerala Chief Minister E K Nayanar today said security arrangements in all the prisons would be strengthened in the wake of the escape of eight undertrial prisoners from the Kollam sub-jail yesterday.

Opposing the admissibility of an adjournment motion on the incident, sought to be moved by R Balakrishna Pillai (Kerala Congress-Pillai) in the State Assembly today, he said police managed to nab two prisoners. The criminals, after escaping from the sub-jail, broke into a house and decamped with gold ornaments and money.

The two were arrested at Mayyanad when they were proceeding on a bike with the stolen articles. The police has intensified search for the remaining six criminals.
