Court declines to interfere in Orissa ministry formation

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
CUTTACK, FEB 23: The Orissa High Court has declined to interfere in the formation of council of ministers by Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang.

A Division Bench, comprising acting Chief Justice Sushant Chatterjee and Justice D M Patnaik, while disposing of a public interest petition filed by Kanhu Charan Mishra yesterday observed that ``it was not the proper stage to interfere in the matter.''

The Bench, however, said the petitioner was at liberty to file ``proper application'' to challenge the induction of ministers with ``tainted'' images. The petitioner had sought a direction from the court to the Chief Minister not to advise the Governor to appoint at least nine ministers of J B Patnaik Government in his Cabinet, who were facing corruption charges.
