Kuneja Israsingh Chhari, the 21-year-old victim, was removed to a private nursing home near Lakdapool here for treatment of severe injuries sustained in the fall.

The Lakadganj police have, meanwhile, arrested the youth, Manohar Krishna Balpande (22) of Lalganj locality, on charges of murder attempt following a complaint by Kuneja.

According to police, Manohar had an affair with Kuneja and would often visit the girl at her house in the red light area. During one such visit, around 11.30 pm on Sunday, Manohar noticed the photograph of a youth – partially identified by the police as Javed -- in the house of the girl.

He confronted Kuneja over the matter and soon a heated verbal exchange ensued. Even as the two were arguing, an enraged Manohar picked up a stick and assaulted Kuneja beforethrowing her from the second-floor terrace, police said.
