Fellowship for students

Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, a city based training and research organisation, has announced a fellowship programme for students of journalism. The fellowship themes are: Yogi Arvinda's concept of cultural nationalism and its relevance today; Maharashtra University Act - 1995: An evaluation; Devdasis: a critique of efforts for eradication of the custom; Katkaris of the Raigad district: In quest of stability; Hazards of pollution caused by road traffic in Mumbai, Pune, Thane: Enormity of the problem and remedy and Hazards of unprotected coastline of Konkan.

Five fellowships worth Rs 8,000 each will be awarded to selected candidates, who will have to present dissertations on the topics within two months. The application forms can be picked up from the programme co-ordinator on a working day during office hours between February 20 and March 5. The forms should be handed in before March 31. Learning disabilities

The Maharashtra Dyslexia Association is organising a workshop `The Age of Aquarius' on the usage of technology to overcome learning disabilities on Saturday, February 27. The workshop will be conducted by US-based doctors Richard Wanderman and Dr Bart Pisha from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm at the J B Petit School, Fort.

The workshop is free of charge and is open to all parents, teachers and learning disabled students. It will cover a range of low-tech and high-tech tools, from highlighters to computers and voice recognition software, and discuss strategies to overcome problems areas in learning such as reading, writing, spelling, memorising and reference.

Spastics Society offers course

The Spastics Society of India is offering a post-graduate course in the education of the physically handicapped. The course, in English, isrecognised by the University of Mumbai. Graduates of any faculty can enrol for the course, from July 1999 to April 2000.

Nature camp to Melghat Reserve
