75-yr-old murdered at Tardeo

MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 23: In an eerie echo of murders of old women who stayed alone, a 75-year-old former municipal doctor was found murdered in her Tardeo apartment on Monday afternoon.

The body of Dr Maki Ardeshar Master was found in a pool of blood on the sofa of her living room at Contractor Building in Tardeo at around 12 noon. She was stabbed in the neck and head, police said. The murder came to light when the domestic servant arrived for work. When repeated ringing of the door bell failed, she informed a close relative staying in the neighbourhood. The relatives, with help of neighbours, broke open the door to find Dr Master dead. Immediately the police were informed. Preliminary investigations by police have revealed robbery as the motive of the murder. The culprits had ransacked the apartment and left doors of the cupboard open.

According to the police, two gold bangles were removed from Dr Master's person by the killer/s. The value of the missing valuables is yet to be ascertained.Police sourcesrevealed that Dr Master was attached to a municipal hospital before she retired in 1984. She was a spinster and lived alone, they added. Dr Master is the third elderly women murdered in the last one week. On February 16, 68-year-old retired professor Mehroo Cooverji Jussawalla was found murdered. Mehroo was unmarried and stayed alone in her flat at Altamount Road in south Mumbai. She had died of multiple stab wounds and police stated robbery was the motive of the crime.

On February 15, 77-year-old Vijaya Parmar was gagged to death allegedly by her grandson Rahul and his associates at her Antop Hill residence.
