Baxi was named a key conspirator after his associate Dr Arshad Jamal was arrested on January 11, four days after the shootout. However, the builder could not be arrested as he reported sick and was admitted to J J Hospital.

The police said the conspiracy revolved around murdering one Mukesh Mehta to usurp hisproperty.
