Minister's plea
Ahmedabad: Narmada and Large Irrigation Projects Minister Jaynarayan Vyas has asked people and organisations not to give advertisement with his name and photographs regarding Supreme Court's order to restart construction of Sardar Sarovar dam.

Teachers' rally
About 430 ad hoc and lien teachers of 20 colleges of the State will take out a rally in Gandhinagar on Wednesday to press for their demands including making them permanent. In a release on Tuesday, the Gujarat State Government College Teachers' Association said that though the government had agreed on their demands, no action was taken till date.

Book release
A book `Prernadayi Garasia Adivasi Sanskruti' written by Kanubhai Madia will be released on Friday at 6.15 p.m. at Gujarati Sahitya Parishad. Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith Ramlal Parikh will preside over the function and Minister of Forest and Environment Kanji Patel will be the chief guest.

Accreditation
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, London has accorded accreditation to Master of Valuation (Real Estate) and Master of Valuation (Plant and Machinery) courses on valuation taught at the centre during 1996 to 2000. Both the courses are run by Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar. The Central Board of Direct Taxes,Government of India has reduced the experience criteria from 10 years to two years for the holders of the above Masters degree for registration as a valuer under Wealth Tax Act.

FCI stir
Rajkot: The Food Corporation of India Employees Association will start agitation from February 24 if their demands which include the implementation of Memorandum of Understanding of June 16, 1997, to stop direct appointment of engineers and give proper promotion to the staff are not looked into by the government.

Samaj meet
The Agarawal Samaj held its national meet in Rajkot recently. Delegates from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, UP, Delhi, Punjab, Bihar and Assam attended the session. Noted freedom fighter Ramcharan Bharatia was also attended the meet.
