AHMEDABAD, Feb 23: A man and a woman were killed and three others were injured when an AMTS bus rammed into a tractor near Vinzol Patia, on Ahmedabad-Mahemdabad highway on Monday evening. Police said the bus plying on route number 60, from Jesoda Chokdi to Vivekanand Nagar collided with a brick-laden tractor-trolley coming from Devdi village.All the victims were travelling in the tractor. One of them died on the spot while the injured were rushed to L G Hospital where a woman succumbed to serious injuries.
The dead included tractor driver Pritesh alias Raju Vitthalbhai Patel (20) of Antisar village in Kapadvanj and Kokila Ambubhai Thakore (25) of Istolabad in Duskroi taluka. The injured were discharged after first aid, said Kanbha police. The bus driver who fled after the mishap was arrested later.
Postal meet: The Department of Posts has decided that on every Wednesday from March 3, 1999, the Chief Postmaster General, Gujarat Circle will meet general people from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. for an on-the-spot settlement of public grievances.
