SHIMLA, Feb 23: The Himachal Pradesh Government today ordered transfer of 13 senior police officers, including three deputy inspector generals (DIGs) and also shifted superintendents of police (SPs) in two key districts of Hamirpur and Shimla.The orders, which are the fallout of the Hamirpur incident involving some IPS officers including SP Hamirpur, were passed by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who had taken serious note of the incident and also proposed disciplinary action against some officials.
Today's orders also paved the way for the promotion of J.K.Monga, SP, Enforcement as DIG and consequent transfer of DIG Police Training college Daroh, Vijay pal Singh, who will return to Shimla. Monga on promotion has been posted as DIG Police Training College, Daroh near Palampur vice Vijay Pal Singh.
O.C.Thakur, superintendent of police, CID (Special Branch) becomes SP Shimla replacing A.N.Sharma. Sharma has become victim because of his presence at Hamirpur Circut House where the police officers had exchanged blows among one another. He has been posted as SP CID (Special Branch) at Shimla.
P. Kamal Kumar, DIG (Central Range) at Mandi has also been shifted and posted as DIG, Enforcement against an existing vacancy. Kumar was also present at Hamirpur when clash took place but had quietly left the Circuit House. He will be replaced by Sumesh Goel, DIG, Armed Police and Training. Vijay Pal Singh is new DIG, Armed Police and Training.
Jagjit Kumar, SP, Hamirpur, who was brought to the district by Dhumal soon after he became the Chief Minister, has been shifted and posted as Commandant, First Police Battalion at Junga near Shimla in place of G.D. Bhargava. Bhargava, on his transfer has been posted SP, Police Training College, Daroh.
R.M.Sharma, SP, Police Training College, Daroh, has been transferred and posted posted as SP Hamirpur. N. Venugopal, ASP, Dharamshala has been transferred and posted SP, Kinnaur vice Ashok Tiwari, who goes on the Central deputation.
The government today also shifted all deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), who were involved in the Hamirpur episode. Madan Lal, DSP headquarter at Hamirpur has been transferred and posted as DSP in the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) at Kihar in the border areas of Chamba. Madhu Sudan, DSP leave reserve at Hamirpur transferred to Una as DSP headquarters. He will be replaced Vimal Kumar, DSP headquarters at Una.
