NEW DELHI, February 23: Mystery surrounds the death of Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Jallandhar, who was found unconscious near the IGI Airport today. Sarabjit died on the way to Safdarjung Hospital. Another person, Baldev Singh, who was also found unconscious next to Sarabjit, has been admitted to the hospital.Around 5.30 p.m., the airport police received a call that two persons were lying unconscious on the roadside near the Airport. When the police reached the spot, they found that both the men were not in a position to speak.
The police managed to identify them after finding their identity cards. They also found out that Sarabjit had come to Delhi on a Gulf Airways flight number GF-137 at 2 p.m. today. And Baldev's belongings revealed that he also hails from Punjab.
Though Baldev is still delirious, he managed to tell the police that he didn't not know Sarabjit. And he has no idea how he was lying on the roadside. ``We have to wait for a day or two before we can take Baldev's complete statement. It seems both had been forced or lured into drinking or eating something which knocked them unconscious. It also seems that they were accosted at different places,'' said a police officer investigating the case.
