Man stabbed in Gole Market, saved by motorist

NEW DELHI, February 23: Uday Kant Mishra, 47, a chief engineer with the Centre for Development of Telematics, a cousin of former cricketer and ex-MLA Kirti Azad, was stabbed by two youths near Mandir Marg at 7 p.m. He could have bled to death, but for a ``kind-hearted motorist passing by'' who took him to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.According to the police, Mishra was returning from his Pusa Road Office in his official car. He asked his driverto drop him near a temple on Mandir Lane because he wanted to take a walk to his P&T Flat in Gole Market. As Mishra started walking two youths, attacked him. Then they attempted to drag him towards some bushes. But a white Maruti Esteem suddenly drove into the lane. They panicked and stabbed Mishra before fleeing. The Maruti Esteem driver, G.S. Narula, tried to give chase, but decided against it after he noticed that Mishra was bleeding profusely and had collapsed on the road. He took Mishra to RML.
