A winning walk
With the aim of providing a stepping-stone for wannabe models, the Rotaract Club of Pune South organised an intercollegiate fashion show competition, Rumble '99, at Nehru Memorial Hall on February 19. The show started with an inter-institute and inter-boutique contest, along with dance sequences. The much-awaited intercollegiate session kicked off with an ethnic sequence by Cummins College on Afreen Afreen. Their sequence `Bringing out the child in a woman', which featured shorts, skirts, haversacks, was really commendable and the girls walked away with the second prize. The well-synchronised and confident walk by the guys and girls of BMCC on three sequences - ethnic, formal and the theme round - deservedly won them the first prize. Their third round on Michael Jackson's Earth Song and Heal The World was particularly good with the message of peace and harmony in nature being the highlight.
The first two sequences by MIT School of Management left one wondering if the definition of fashion had changed! But their third round of party wear provided some saving grace to their session and got them the third place.
The all-boys team of Sinhagad Institute of Management (SIOM) added their bit to the show with three sequences of ethnic, `cool' wear and formal wear. The main flaw was their abrupt ending in all the sequences. BMCC walked away with `Best choreographer' award, while SIOM bagged the `Best clothes' prize. Smita from BMCC and Manish of SIOM were adjudged the best female and male models, respectively.
