CHANDIGARH, Feb 24: Punjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) president D.P.S. Randhawa today went on an indefinite hunger strike outside the office of the PU Vice-Chancellor to press for his demands made before the administration including waiver for entertainment tax on films for students, free bus passes and separate buses for girls during peak hours.Randhawa will be joined in the hunger strike tomorrow by presidents of the Students' Councils of city colleges to demand the postponement of exams for undergraduates and withdrawal of the recent fee hike. Meanwhile, the PU Film Society convenor, Jatinder Chadha, has also threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike from March 4, if the demand for reviving the film show is not fulfilled.
Non-teaching staff hold rally
The non-teaching employees of the SGGS College, Sector 26, held a gate rally to condemn the `attacks' on them and press for immediate implementation of their demands including change in designation of the laboratory staff in accordance with the orders of the DPI, deduction of 12 per cent provident fund, a press release issued by Amrit Lal, general secretary of the employees' union said.
