Selectors to watch Kambli, Agarkar

 
MUMBAI: The National cricket selectors, headed by Ajit Wadekar, are to watch Mumbai stars Ajit Agarkar and Vinod Kambli in special net session here on February 27 morning before pruning the World Cup probables list to 19 in the afternoon.``The selectors have decided to watch them in action before the meeting and (the Board-appointed) Dr Anant Joshi may be in attendance,'' Indian cricket control board executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar said.Bovelander tipsNEW DELHI: Having discovered it's weakness in penalty corner conversions during the ongoing nine-match hockey series against Pakistan, the Indian hockey team will undergo training from Dutch penalty corner specialist, Florence Bovelander, later this year.Indian coach V Baskaran said IHF officials have already spoken to Bovelander and an arrangement was being made for a stint with him when the team travels to Germany in June this year for a Test series.

Indians falter

MUMBAI: India had yet another bad day when International Masters Abhijit Kunteand Neelotpal Das suffered defeats in the fifth round of the fourth United Insurance Grandmasters Chess Tournament at Dhaka on Wednesday.Kunte was outplayed by Polish GM A Wojtkiewicz while Das lost to Bangladeshi GM Niaz Murshed. With these defeats, Kunte (2) and Neelotpal (0.5) stay at the bottom of the table, according to information received here.

Vintage car rally

MUMBAI: Over 100 cars are expected to participate in the Eighth Castrol-Vintage and Classic Club of India's fiesta this Sunday.The annual event will try out a different route this year. The rally will be flagged off from near Assembly Hall, Nariman Point and will proceed to Juhu and back -- a total distance of 60 kilometres.A surprisingly large number of motorbikes -- 25 already -- have entered the rally, along with five newly restored cars. There are also special prizes for outstation cars.

Double coaching
