A labour ministry notification said the amendment was made on the basis of recommendations of the Central Board of Trustees of Employees Provident Fund, according to the sources.

Under the existing provisions of the scheme, in case of death of a person, pension was payable to the widow and children.

The government has also decided to make totally-disabled children eligible for life-long pension in addition to pension payable to normal children under the scheme, the sources added.
