Calling old Ravians

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Feb 25: He was on the bus and TV viewers saw Dev Anand roaming around his alma mater, Government College, Lahore. Now comes an invitation from Old Ravians, as the college's alumni are called: "Come to College Founder's Day, March 6".

The invitation from Prof Khalid Manzoor Butt, the associate secretary of the Union, was received by old Ravian C.M. Sethi here. Sethi (77), who retired as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Punjab, studied at GC-Lahore from 1940 to `45. He explains: "We are Ravians because the Ravi flowed close-by and our college magazine was called `Ravi' ... from Ravi to Ravians, the term for ex-students." Butt has entrusted the work of finding Indian Ravians to Sethi. "There are more than 100 Ravians in Chandigarh alone. It would be wonderful and a lot more easy to go as a group," Sethi noted. Ravians contact Sethi at 162,Sector 27 A; phone 640542 and 656077. Or e-mail GC-Lahore at gc@ paknet4.ptc.pk. Butt's telephone numbers are 92-42-7232269, 7228344 and 6363355.
