Police Files -- Delhi
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Home guard held for graft A company commander of the Delhi Home Guards was arrested on Wednesday for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 500. DHG Platoon Commander Rakesh Kumar complained to the Anti-Corruption Branch that on February 14 he was not allowed to report for duty at the Traffic Police Circle by company commander Sanjay Kumar Rai. Kumar alleged that Rai said he had been directed to stop him by his seniors, and then demanded a Rs 500-bribe for allowing him to proceed to Kalkaji. The same thing was repeated on Tuesday. The ACB accordingly laid a trap for Rai, who was caught red-handed.Women held The Timarpur police on Wednesday arrested two women -- both Madhya Pradesh residents -- on Outer Ring Road and claim to have seized 44 kg of poppy husk from them. A patrolling policeman noticed the women carrying large bags, and stopped them on suspicion. The poppy husk was recovered, which the police claim is from Bhopal. The women have been identified as Asha, 30, and Kiran, 20. They have been booked under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
