Pranab coming on Feb 28
Former Union minister and general secretary of the All India Congress Committee Pranab Mukherjee would be in the city on February 28, to address a rally organised by the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee. According to CTCC president Venod Sharma, the local Congress would organise a rally at the Nehru Park, in Sector 22 here.

Talk on orthopaedic problems
With a view to creating awareness regarding the causes for common orthopaedic complaints like neck and back pain, a talk was held between the officers of the Department of Architecture, Punjab, and head of Orthopaedic Department, PGI, Jaswant Rai.

Doctors examine Randhawa
A team of three doctors of the General Hospital, Sector 16, deputed by the UT Administration, today examined D. P. S. Randhawa, president of the Panjab University Campus Students' Council, who was sitting on a hunger-strike outside the Punjab University Vice-Chancellor's office for the third day today.

Children donate Rs 20,000 to ASI
A group of school children from the City have contributed Rs 20,000 to the Archaeological Survey of India for maintenance of Taj Mahal and have launched a ``Save Taj Campaign''.

Hussian duo visit Sector 7 school
Popular singers Hussain duo visited the K. B. DAV Centenary Public School, Sector 7, today and interacted with the staff and students. While a solo song was presented by Poorvi Koutish of nursery class, another student, Sumit Chakravorty presented a ``bhajan''.

National Science Day celebrations
The three-day celebrations of the National Science Day being organised on the Punjab University campus by the Department of Bio-Technology and the local chapters of the Indian Science Congress Association and the Indian National Science Academy, began here today.

101 GCG-42 girls donate blood
A total of 101 students of Government College for Girls, Sector 42, along with members of the Lions Club Lotus, donated blood at a blood donation camp organised at GCG, Sector 42, here today. The camp, which was organised by Lions Club Lotus and Lions Club Midtown, was inaugurated by Mohini Sharma, Principal.

After the camp, fruits and refreshments were served to the donors.

Demand to upgrade schools
District Congress Committee president P. C Puri today urged upon the UT Administration to upgrade government model schools in Sectors 42, 43 and 44 which are running since the past 10 years, to a senior secondary level. He demanded that Government Model School, Sector 43, be upgraded at the earliest so that it can take the load of Sector 42 and 44 model schools.

Rule or quit, CTMC to BJP
Lalit Joshi, president, Chandigarh Territorial Mahila Congress, today addressed a gathering of women at Badheri village, Sector 41-D. She said that if the BJP could not rule the country properly, it should quit. The nuclear tests conducted under the BJP regime had resulted in a world-wide criticism, she added.
